Phantom Door Screens using standard weave mesh 14 x 18 threads per inch insect screen mesh are almost always around £320 for normal doors and around £200 for windows.
Executive Powered Screens are priced by width, height and mesh type. Call us with the dimensions of the area you'd like to screen and we'll be happy to give you an estimate.
Q. How do retractable screens work?
A. Retractable screens are, in their component parts, simple devices. Unlike screens of the past, which are fixed on all sides to a rigid frame and are always in use or stored, not to mention getting in the way when you want to open the window. Retractable screens appear and disappear "on demand" easily quickly and without fuss tools or aids.
The screen mesh, which rides in tracks at the edge recoils onto a cassette wrapping around a "roller" mounted inside a "housing". The recoil power is provided by an internal spring, tensioned as the screen is pulled out. In the Phantom screen a small very special device prevents runaway retraction, the return of the screen is strictly speed controlled. An advantage of this is stronger recoil springs can be used to keep the mesh taught without fear of harm to the user from snap back. In window units the effect of the tautness is increased by the use of brushes hidden inside the tracks.
Q. Are there any disadvantages to retractable screens?
A. Yes. Retractable door and window screens are not good at preventing larger animals or children from entering or leaving, and should never be installed for that purpose. Retractable screens always form a square or rectangle when in use and cannot be conformed to arched or shaped openings or triangular areas.

Q. Do you offer Custom colours?

You can also select from 10 wood grain coatings to match your home or project. Q. What is the warranty?
A. Phantom Manufacturing offer a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser, excluding the mesh material on both the Phantom door and Serene window products. Motorised screen has a similar warranty, with the exception of the motor which is covered for five years. Warranty information is here.
Q. Can the screens be locked?
A. Phantom Screen can be locked in position. However, these screens are not a security product, they are designed to keep fresh air flowing into your home while keeping the bugs, bats birds etc. out.
Q. Are there different types of screen material?
A. Yes Most popular choice is the standard 14 x 18 threads per inch. Midge screens are best at 20 x 20 and pollen is a special material. So, depending on what your needs are, Phantom offers a variety of screen types.
insect Screen – This strong mesh is great for keeping insects at bay, and is recommended for both small and large openings.
Solar Screen – This mesh blocks out the sun’s heat and glare by up to 75% while keeping pesky insects out.
Premium Solar Screen – This mesh offers substantial shading and reduces the fading of furnishings by blocking up to 80% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.
Privacy Screen – This unique option blocks up to 100% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Q. Can you reduce the speed to avoid "snap back"?
A. Every Phantom Screen is delivered with speed regulator installed as standard
Q. Is there any maintenance required?
A. A little: the maintenance is very minimal. Phantom Screens should be retracted when not in use, keeping screens free from damage and dirt. Also, on external door installations the bottom track should be kept free from dirt and debris and periodically lubricated with dry greaseless silicone spray. We can supply extra when required
Q. What if I have pets?
A. Phantom Screens are intended to provide pest control. They are not intended to provide the retention and / or security of objects, animals or persons inside or outside your dwelling. The Phantom Screen design will reduces possibility of damage to your screen due to unintended impact with the mesh. Our experience is that in most cases, your pets will understand that a screen is in place and will not attempt to go through. If your pet does damage the screen mesh, it can be replaced and your Phantom will be like new again.
Q. Can I install the screen myself?
A. No. The custom nature of our product, total quality control and warranty issues indicate every Phantom product must be installed by a factory trained technicians such as those from The Best Screen Company.
Q. How soon can I get my screen installed?
A. The Best Screen Company usually install within a week of purchase. If your screen is a specification that has non stock parts such a colours this can be extended. During our survey, estimate and proposal process, we can give you a better idea of the time frame and set up an installation date in advance.
